On June 12th, at the signing ceremony for key projects of the 3rd Tianjin International Shipping Industry Expo, WINDEY officially signed an agreement in the name of a Vice-President Unit and joined the "Green Methanol Ecological Alliance". This move indicates that WINDEY's business development in the fields of hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol has come into a new stage featuring collaborative innovation and joint standard establishment, which will expedite the large-scale application of green fuels in the shipping industry.
As the largest port in northern China, Tianjin Port not only boasts a dense network of European shipping routes and huge potential filling demands, but also enjoys the geographical advantage of connecting the main production areas of green methanol in the "Three Norths" region (North China, Northeast China, and Northwest China), showing remarkable competitiveness in transportation costs. The Lingang Area in the Free Trade Zone of Tianjin is equipped with specialized liquid chemical terminals, dedicated railway lines, and strong methanol storage and transportation capacity, providing a solid foundation for the distribution of green fuels. The Green Methanol Ecological Alliance was sponsored and prepared jointly by the Tianjin Investment Promotion Bureau, the Port and Shipping Administration Bureau, the Tianjin Maritime Safety Administration, the Policy, Industrial Innovation and Development Bureau of the China (Tianjin) Pilot Free Trade Zone, the Administrative Committee of the Tianjin Port Free Trade Zone, the People's Government of Hebei District, and the China Classification Society. It aims to build rules, integrate resources, connect the whole chain of green methanol, promote the matchmaking between supply and demand, mutual recognition of standards, and efficient transactions, and resolve the headaches in the industry.
After joining the alliance, WINDEY will rely on the platform of the alliance and the hub advantages of Tianjin Port to bring into full play its technological practices in the field of new energy consumption. Taking green methanol as a link, WINDEY will help promote the large-scale application of this fuel in the shipping industry and the construction of relevant standard systems, laying a foundation for the export of green energy such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, green methanol, and future sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) in northern China.
Connecting the Whole Chain, Building an Integrated Green Methanol System
WINDEY has long been committed to the development of "Integrated Green Electricity and Green Energy" and has already established a complete green methanol production system "Biomass Collection, Storage, and Transportation - Biomass Gasification - Hydrogen Production from Wind and Solar Green Electricity - Methanol Synthesis". After joining the alliance, the Company will join hands with upstream and downstream partners in the industrial chain to expedite the implementation of the whole green fuel chain “Production - Transportation - Storage -Filling" while relying on its core technologies in the field of green methanol, its experience in standard formulation, and its advantages in ISCC EU (International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (EU)) authentication.
Leading the Dual Highlands, Setting Technical Benchmarks in the Industry
As a pacesetter in domestic green methanol technology, the Handan 180,000t/year green methanol project led by WINDEY has passed ISCC EU authentication in the raw material collection and storage link, reaching the international advanced level in key indicators such as raw material collection, processing and transportation, and carbon footprint reduction. Also, the Company has taken the lead in compiling China's first Carbon Footprint Evaluation Standard for Green Methanol Products, and has registered key technical patents such as carbon footprint accounting for the biomass gasification path, continuously leading the improvement of the standard system for China's green fuel industry. In the future, WINDEY will deepen its collaboration and cooperation with Tianjin Port in the field of green fuel transportation, comprehensively shore up the technical foundation and standard system, and enhance China's voice in the global green energy supply chain.
Building a New Ecology, Jointly Promoting the Green Transformation of the Shipping Industry
Currently, WINDEY has reached cooperation intentions with multiple ports, fuel filling service providers, and logistics groups, aiming to build a commercial closed loop from demonstration application to large-scale promotion in the field of marine green fuels. Through in-depth integration with the port resources of Tianjin Port, the Company will embed its green methanol business into the port's energy supply and clean transformation system, promote the formation of a sustainable ecology featuring "Industrial Collaboration, Policy Linkage, and Application First", and further deepen the cooperation and industrial demonstration effect between the two sides in the field of green fuel transportation.
Looking ahead, WINDEY will take its success in joining the alliance as an opportunity to expedite the strategic upgrading from the 100-billion-yuan-level green electricity market to the trillion-yuan-level green energy field. In the meantime, relying on the in-depth collaboration with Tianjin Port in the field of green fuel transportation, the Company will help Tianjin Port build a world-class green port and contribute the “WINDEY Solution” to the decarbonization of the global shipping industry.
